Singing the praises of Suffolk

As some of you may know, my family and I upped sticks and moved to Suffolk recently. I've always loved this part of the world, but one of the things that has struck me since I arrived is both the quality and quantity of the local people and businesses that are working in ways that benefit the environment.

This is something that I'd like to focus on in more detail over the coming weeks, but one person who I think demonstrates the great mix of local knowledge and skills here is the fantastically named Paula Sunshine.

Paula was featured by the BBC last month working on a wattle and daub extension for her rather wonderful 500-year old home in Suffolk, and managed to grab the presenter's attention by using human hair as a rather unique – and eco-friendly – ingredient.

Her site is a great starting point for those interested in traditional building methods and repair, and makes a solid case against the modern-style renovations that have been all the rage for some time, as well as offering some interesting looking training courses.

If you all think it's a good idea, I'll try and add more local businesses and sites to the blog from now on – maybe I can get it going as a useful resource for green enterprise in Suffolk. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Edwin
