Renewable Heat Incentive launch

Energy Secretary Chris Huhne recently gave the good news that he has launched a new UK Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). The initiative aims to support emerging technologies, and translates into some great news for everyday households. Special RHI energy tariffs are due to come into force from 2012. And even before then, there is government financing for those looking to install energy efficient heating systems.

The 'RHI Premium Payment' aims to help with the cost of 25,000 installations of eligible energy efficient heating systems. Customers installing these new systems will then be automatically entitled to the RHI tariff from Oct 2012.

Another plus for consumers is that the same deal will apply to anyone who has installed eligible equipment as far back as since July 2009, qualifying automatically for the same RHI tariff from Oct 2012.

This should be a superb incentive to anyone thinking about installing energy efficient heating, alongside the obvious cash savings on everyday bills. Read more about it here.
