Free Energy Saving Lightbulbs from British Gas

In line with some other utility companies, British Gas is currently giving four Energy Saving Light Bulbs to every customer. This is a great way to get people used to using them and if as I suspect, British Gas is buying cheap bulbs made in China it will only cost the company a few pence for each one.

The problem I haven't solved yet with Energy Saving Light bulbs is the time they take to warm up. If you put them in stairwells and want them to switch on quickly while you run up or down stairs you cannot have a bulb that takes 5 minutes to warm up. Some of the stick bulbs I have in my home light up instantly, but none of the shaped bulbs (candle or globe) do so.

When I finally identify a range of bulbs that cover all sockets, all shapes and light up very quickly, I will post it here and start to sell them. Oddly, the Energy Saving Trust couldn't help me solve this dilemma. I would have thought that would be one of their first priorities to get early adoption of CFLs.
